History 23
|
I've been teaching this lower division class at Fresno City College. It's still a work in progress, because each semester I try to find a better balance to cover all the important cultures, links, events, movements, etc. So far, each time, I come across lots of ways to improve it.
I utilize a number of films in this class and the students will compile a film log -- their notes from the films -- to help them study the material presented. Syllabus
This is a preliminary version of the syllabus. There may be changes to this document prior to the start of class. Be sure to check with me to make sure you have the correct version.
Supplemental Texts
CitationsChicago (Turabian) Manual of Style Quick Guide: For all assignments in my history classes you are required to cite every source you use (quoted, paraphrased, referenced, or based upon). You MUST use the footnote (referred to here as "Notes and Bibliography) format in your papers. I require all written assignments to include a Works Cited page -- not a Bibliography or Reference page. If you do not know the difference, be sure to ask in class.
Any paper not including citations will receive a zero (0). Any paper not including a properly formatted Works Cited page will receive a zero (0). Discussion Forum
Students should sign up for, and participate in the on-line discussion forum for this class. Normally, on-line discussions represent extra credit assignments.
